Using the latest collaborative and social participation tools, Rod is renowned for initiating and motivating the pursuit of team excellence.Operating in the US, Canada, Australia and China, Rod has directed and managed people, process and technology for small startups to billion dollar global organizations. Most of Rod's work has been to design, develop, and execute deployment of technology and systems related to human performance assessment and improvement including coresponding go-to-market strategies. Rod has also worked with numerous investment banking, venture capital, and corporate investment firms, assisting them in due diligence, startup, financing, deal structuring, and business growth and recovery. With this experience and his extensive team leadership and project management skills he has brought novel products and solutions (ie: Webassessor, PictureTalk, PrepVision, CMSi) to market across a broad business spectrum: communications, transportation, defense, education, construction, artificial intelligence, human resources, and investor and public relations. His last four business employers saw Rod’s original approach rapidly increase their revenues by an average of 150% in just two years. In each case his combination of team development techniques and new human productivity and training management solutions effectively doubled the value of his employers’ intellectual property. In addition to his success in the commercial business sector, Rod has striven for global collaboration and readiness for the information age, targeting in particular, schools and law enforcement agencies, as well as air safety. Most recenlty Rod has provided leadership leveraging the latest in mobile and wireless technology for enhancing blue collar trade and safety certification programs. After 9/11, Rod was asked to lead the development and delivery of nationwide air travel and air transportation safety training programs for federal air marshals, as well as for airline and airport personnel, and for the newly introduced baggage screeners in 2002-2003. Specifically, Rod led the development and deployment the secure mobile and wireless training and certification applications and technology infrastructure. Systems Rod patented for his employer enabled successful completion of the $500m Transportation Safety Agency contract with Boeing for the world’s largest workforce mobilization exercise: a mission-critical program to recruit, train, and certify the skills of nearly 30,000 newly recruited baggage screeners. Working within budget and to demanding deadlines post 9/11, Rod formed teams to develop the systems and infrastructure. This included formulation of teams (ex: Air Team) to install, prepare and certify 1,800 trainer/coaches within over 260 airports. The successfully completed (secure eLearning content delivered wirelessly via PDA/smartphones) project delivered a major improvement in risk mitigation, and significantly improved airport and air travel safety within US air traffic system. Rod’s leadership has brought forward a number of truly unique solutions aimed at meeting global learning and human development challenges. As a co-founder of the Global Literacy Foundation, Rod’s personal goals focus on leading people, processes, and technologies to create and maintain a global passion for new discovery toward continuous learning. Global Literacy Foundation is a multi-faceted solutions approach to dramatically improve literacy targeting significant and sustained learning programs for "Youth at Risk", and is Rod's latest challenge as Board Chair.
